www.appliedproductdesign.co.uk reports that Sky has announced it has been testing new 3D television technology for use with football (soccer) matches. The new product design concepts have been tested on a number of different kinds of sport, but football proved to be the most popular. The new technology should enable people to watch football on special 3D TVs in pubs and homes within the year.

The TVs they use all seem to use passive/polarized eyewear. I guess you don’t want to risk having a pub full of drunken football supporters potentially getting rowdy and breaking expensive active shutter glasses. But will this impact the home where active glasses seem the preferred rout by the CE manufacturers at CES?
